Comastri Service: technical assistance and more
June 30, 2022With more than 25 years of experience in the industry, Davide Comastri works in industrial representation in various fields: from mechanical to pharmaceutical to electronic. With the namesake company Comastri Davide, through Comastri distribution distributes and rents products, provides after-sales services.
He also does service work for some major brands in the public and private hospital and industrial sectors. We asked him a few questions to let him tell us about the history and evolution of his business.
How do you start your career as an Industrial Representative?
'' My first representation was IREM, through which I went into business for myself in 1997, the year I decided to open a sole proprietorship (now my own after working for 7 years in an electronic components company). Working in that company as a sales area manager for sales in Italy and abroad, in fact, I was able to build my knowledge in the world of industry.
At first I dealt only with products such as mechanical components, rollers and components for conveyor belts or transmission organs, but over time I acquired new mandates in other industrial manufacturing sectors such as pharmaceutical, food, general packaging and especially testing for automotive components ''.
All this led to the opening of the first office...
''That's right, in 2004. The acquisition of additional new mandates led to the first office in Anzola Emilia. This was followed 10 years later by the opening of a new office, in Zola Predosa, where the business is still based today.
Many representations were acquired during those years, would you tell us about the most important ones?
''One of the earliest and most relevant representations was for Kistler, an important Swiss company that makes measuring instruments, force torque sensors, and electric presses; then since the business moved to Zola Predosa in 2014, in 4 years our industrial representations have grown with:
- Ion Science, which produces high-level gas detectors, leak detectors and corrosion monitoring instruments
- Julabo, one of the world's leading experts on temperature control systems
- Espec, a world-leading company in the field of air thermostatting, climatic chambers, laboratory and industrial stoves and ovens
- SGM LEKTRA, manufacturer of instruments for measurement and control in industrial processes and the integrated water cycle''.
What can you tell us about Comastri Distribution's e-commerce? How did it come about?
''After obtaining the DT58 certification to be recognized by an accredited third party entity as a Business Agent, I decide to start this new adventure,together with my eldest son Philip , creating an ad hoc company for the purpose: Comastri Distribution S.r.l. precisely. But my presence on the Internet goes back a few years earlier.
It was in 2013 that I decided to preside over the online channel with the website comastridavide.com, with which I aimed to showcase products to Customers. The website allowed me to develop the business a lot thanks to contacts and orders; in 2018 the time then became ripe to activate an e-commerce dedicated to selling throughout Europe di measurement and testing instrumentation industrial''.
From 2020, you also provide technical support for after-sales service to Customers, how do you think Comastri Davide company will evolve?
''We recently acquired another 'service contract' from a major Spanish company in Barcelona, Biosytems , a company that deals with clinical diagnostic ,veterinary , food & beverage, e Text, both acome business partner and as a technical party ,a reference point for portable and fixed electronic instrumentation for the measurement of physical and chemical parameters worldwide ; with the ISO9001-2015 corporate quality certification for Quality Management Systems we have also equipped ourselves with another arrow to our bow''.
But the 2020 is an important year,expansion of the technical area ,I sign new service contracts , also because I have included a partner Luigi Baiesi ,who with his 20 years of experience in hospital diagnostics,has developed the technical service business; joining a service contract Biomerieux ,his historical company ,also in the same sector we started with Alifax service contract , then joining forces with another minority partner Raphael,and id the back office with Floriana and commercial management I was able to develop and complete my proposal also for one of my Kistler representations completing the service to my clients in the industrial field and expanding my knowledge in other areas and zones of Italy and Europe.
